I don't think that we have a thread devoted to general reading. I think it might be enjoyable to share pleasant reading experiences we have. I'll begin with an old classic which I have found absolutely fascinating. I recently finished An Account of Egypt by Herodotus.
Reading this book gives you a chance to visit Egypt in the Fifth Century B.C. Along with the Greek Herodotus who shares his eye witness experience. You can learn something of the Egyptian culture including their embalming techniques which varied according to the price paid. Herodotus describes the pyramids as they appeared in their original glory and shares something of the Egyptian view of their history while warning the reader that there is much he doesn't trust to be accurate.
The book is available as a free download from Project Gutenberg or the Amazon Kindle Store. You can probably easily get the hard copy book at any library though I now have become a convert to Kindle.
Herodotus has been called "the father of history" and he well deserves the accolade.

Herodotus is NEVER boring! Fascinating even 2450 years later. And he's quoted in the Christian Bible, too; or he quotes it in the form of something he read - or heard: "There's nothing new under the sun."

Yes indeed! The complete Histories is available in an excellent free annotated edition through Project Gutenberg.

It's been a few weeks, but I picked up a paperback at the local Christian bookstore called Jesus Unmasked: The Truth Will Shock You by Todd Friel and devoured it in two days. Didn't know Todd from Adam (pun intended) but the book was an easy and fun read. Fun? Jesus? You betcha! God needed a sense of humor to put up with sinful humans for thousands of years!
The book chronicles many foreshadowings in the OT of Jesus' first coming, and what will eventually be His future comings - the rapture of the saints, and later the battle of Armageddon. The style is light and fun to read, while teaching you many biblical truths at the same time.
If you're not in the mood for some in-depth commentary that might cause you to nod off, but just want to get your feet wet in a stream of Living Water, I recommend it. Even newbies in the faith will enjoy it.

Finally met a person I got to talk about some of the things I like in korean dramas he does not watch k- dramas however he start a Taekwondo school and has a deep respect for korean martial arts and the spiritual aspects related to them books he recommended I read - just ordered at Amazon Korean/English dictionary + "Obscure documents, Korean-language books, and in-depth interviews with tae kwon do pioneers tell the tale of the origin of the most popular martial art. In 1938, tae kwon do began at the end of a poker game in a tiny village in a remote corner of what is now North Korea by Choi Hong-Hi, who began the martial art, and his nemesis, Kim Un-Yong, who developed the Olympic style and became one of the most powerful, controversial men in sports. The story follows Choi from the 1938 poker game where he fought for his life, through high-class geisha houses where the art was named, and into the Vietnam War where the martial art evolved into a killing art. The techniques cut across all realms—from the late 1960s when tae kwon do–trained Korean CIA agents kidnapped people in the United States and Europe to the 1970s when Bruce Lee, Chuck Norris, and other Hollywood stars mastered the art’s new kicks. Tae kwon do is also a martial art for the 21st century, one of merciless techniques, indomitable men, and justice pumped on steroids."
