Goo Hara rescued from apparent suicide attempt

Former KARA member Goo Hara, who had been the subject of a very public abusive relationship and blackmail scandal in recent months, was rescued from an apparent suicide attempt at home, after posting disturbing messages on Instagram.

On the previous night, she had posted an image with the word "Goodbye" on her Instagram, leading her manager to be concerned about her safety and contact her. Goo Hara did not pick up, and her manager rushed to her house to find her unconscious in a room filled with smoke. Her manager quickly put out the source of the smoke and called the 119 Rescue Center at approximately 12:40 AM KST. Goo Hara was then moved to a hospital.

According to Yonhap News, Goo Hara remains unconscious as of 11:30 AM KST, but her breathing and pulse are normal.

I really can't say that I'm surprised it came to this, but am so glad she was rescued.  Hope she gets the help she needs.

Quick update...

Hara is conscious and apparently doing well.  In typical Korean fashion, she has already released a statement apologizing for causing people to worry about her and that she would try to do better.

It was in fact a suicide attempt, she confirmed.  Her manager said that she had been battling depression for some time, which is why he was so quick to react to the situation.

Hara says she's doing better.  She is currently resting and recovering in Japan after having been discharged from the hospital two weeks ago.
