"They" will never stop, until they are stopped by people who finally refuse to pander to them.

One of the most sensible commentaries on the flag controversy and political correctness I've read in quite a while: On the Confederate Flag by Clay Travis(a college football blog is not the usual spot to find such insight)

Good article. He should have a running tally on his page. "Were you offended by my opinion?"
"We're not far from electing a smiley face emoticon President."
Some would say we already did.

Libs go after the Confederate flag, part of our founding history, but ignore the United Nations flag. Did you ever vote for the United Nations to set your country's laws?
What's next? Burn every copy of Gone With The Wind the novel too? Stop publishing it?
Those who refuse to learn from history are condemned to repeat it.

I think I'm a liberal ( open minded and willing to look at subject in more then one way ) but libs assure me I'm not . Too willing to read and keep a open mind to be a lib or a con .

The GWTW thing is ridiculous, but as a Southerner, I have to say the confederate flag should already be long gone. Sure, history is important, but not as much as some other things. The purpose of any flag should be to represent the people, so it seems absurd to have a flag displayed that is hurtful and offensive to a good portion of the population. I'm glad we got rid of it on the Georgia state flag years ago; there is just too much of a long trail of racist intent and actions connected with that symbol.

However, freedom of speech includes unpopular speech and symbols. They start with something that is easy to attack and then they go after things that are far more subtle.
"That Bible of theirs is hate speech. It offends me. Let's get rid of that ancient work of fiction."
That's what's coming.

Yes, it's a valid point. That is a very real danger. And it's especially disturbing when that intolerance is directed toward Christianity, which it often is these days.

That hatred proves the existence of Satan. It's totally irrational and indefensible. Like that NC church shooter in microcosm. Hatred that is irrational spouts off "you rape our women" and then shoots dead several Christian women in church. Hello? Rape is so heinous that it deserves a response of murder? Bats in the Belfry, anyone?

You know, it occurs to me: whatever happened to that old liberal standby line: "I may not like what you have to say but I'll defend to the death your right to say it"? Now today THAT seems "Gone With The Wind".
Hypocrites.
