Have you ever heard Elisabeth Risdon? She was highly popular in British silent cinema period. But unfortunately any her silents are unavailable in online. She is really good-looking, isn't she?

I mostly remember her in sound films when she was older.

She was a magnificent - really magnificent - character actress, actually memorable, and many times for parts where she was not the nicest character, too. There aren't many actresses of this type in movies today. Her list of silents looks extremely intriguing, indeed. I'd love to see "Florence Nightingale" (1915), directed by none other than Maurice Elvey! It looks as if she had a long hiatus of movie-making between her last British silent in 1919 and her Hollywood character actress career, which seems to have begun in 1935. According the IMDb, she joined the Theater Guild in the States in 1918, and worked playing "cranky aunts" and the like in the theater. Very interesting you take an interest in her, Old Blue! How did you discover her? What made you so interested?
