Chief Park Young Suk of 'Winter Sonata's production company, Pen Entertainment, divulged on April 14, "We will be producing 'Winter Sonata 2.' We will gather a lot of the staff members, such as the writer and director, of the first one once again for a second one."
Writers Yoon Eun Kyung and Kim Eun Hee and Producer Yoon Suk Ho of 'Winter Sonata' from 2002 will be reuniting for a sequel thirteen years after! Currently, the two writers have proposed an idea for the storyline and are writing the synopsis, which should be out around next month.
Chief park said in an interview with Yonhap News, "We started planned the sequel a long time ago. We had tentatively wanted to create the sequel ten years after the first one aired, and we think the time is now." Source: allkpop.com

Always thought Bae Yong Joon and Choi Ji Woo should have gotten married. They dated but drifted apart I guess.
They produced an anime version in Japan in 2010 and concluded it with a live action wedding scene, starring the couple. Of course it wasn't the same because Park Yong Ha committed suicide that year (actor to the left) and they had some fill in actor play his part and all it did was make me sad.

I think I came to this drama too late to really appreciate it (I maybe watched in 2010? or 2011?). I couldn't even get through the other three season dramas in this set!! While I know it is a classic... it just drove me nuts watching it (my computer monitor was at death-con 5 level danger of having things chucked at it). The remake would need some major updating for me to be up to watching it I think.

Watching it on a computer, with the type of faded out bootleg prints that abound for it now, was your big mistake. Most prints out there have turned orangy with age.
I first saw it on Instant Netflix, in HD, widescreen, and it looked phenomenal. Looked like it was filmed yesterday instead of over a decade ago. I have no idea where Netflix got that outstanding print but I grieved when they removed it. I have a DVD box set for it but even that print doesn't compare to how it looked on Netflix.
And how anyone couldn't get through gorgeous Spring Waltz is beyond me.

And how anyone couldn't get through gorgeous Spring Waltz is beyond me. i have to agree with that. i was a little hesitant at watching it because of my memories of autumn in my heart, but i had to take a shot at it when i learned it's with han hyo joo. and with the theme of spring, i hoped it would be more light hearted than autumn in my heart. loooooove spring waltz! lovely cinematography that you can't get in american/western shows. love the OST for it as well

Since the OST is 3/4s Yiruma based, it's by definition the most gorgeous OST ever created for a K-drama.
It inspires lots of artist covers that end up on YouTube -- we're not alone in loving that sublime music score. I'm always finding new versions on YT.
