Nongshim Spicy Chicken Potato Chips (농심 포테토칩 매콤치킨)How about some spicy chicken-flavored potato chips? As usual, these chips are far less salty or greasy than their American counterparts, but they do have a real bite to them. Keep a drink handy; they are far hotter than they first seem. My rating: ★★★★☆

Nongshim Fried Chicken Hot BBQ Flavor Chips (농심 닭다리 핫 숯불바베큐 맛)Today I've got another snack chip featuring a fried chicken barbeque flavor, these shaped like little chicken drumsticks. The drumsticks are hollow and have a bit of a corn chip texture and flavor. They are quite tangy, but not the straight chili pepper heat of the spicy chicken potato chips I had last time. Pretty good. I liked 'em. My rating: ★★★★☆

Ottogi Beijing Black Bean Ramen (오뚜기 북경짜장 라면)
Today I've got yet another ramen variety - this time with black bean sauce ( jjajang). Jjajang is a Korean adaptation of a traditional Chinese black bean sauce, zhájiàng (炸酱). I can't count the number of times I've seen folks eating black bean noodles, jjajangmyeon ( 짜장면), in dramas. It's a very popular dish in Korea. Preparation is fairly straight forward. Boil the dried noodles and contents of the veggie pack for 5 minutes. Drain all but about 3 Tablespoons of the water and add the powdered sauce and oil stock packet. I added a few peas and carrots to liven it up a bit. While likely a far cry from fresh jjajangmyeon, this instant variety was still pretty decent. Folks that don't really go for the highly spicy Korean dishes may enjoy this one. It's not spicy at all and can readily be doctored up with the addition of any virtually variety of fresh veggies or meats. My rating: ★★★★☆

Orion Kasak Chocolate Crispy Sticks (오리온 까삭 초코맛)Koreans really seem to like stick-type snack cookies like these; there are plenty of different similar products, which are pretty clearly meant to go with coffee or tea. The "cookie" part of these sticks reminded me a lot of sugar wafers. Combined with the chocolate, they are really pretty tasty. I liked 'em. My rating: ★★★★☆

Assi Katsuo Rice Noodle Soup (아씨 가쓰오 쌀국수)Instead of ramen, today I've got rice noodle soup, flavored with katsuo (aka skipjack tuna). The package comes in a convenient styrofoam container, ready for the microwave. Just dump the contents of the powdered soup mix in with the dried noodles and fill to the line with water. Microwave on high for 3-4 minutes. In addition to some fresh carrots and squash, I've chosen to top it with some authentic Korean canned tuna as well. Ottogi Mild Tuna (오뚜기 마일드 참치)This meal was quite different from most of the other varieties I've had so far. The fine rice noodles are more like angel hair pasta, than the usual ramen. The soup was flavorful, but not at all spicy. Though I'm certainly no connoisseur of canned tuna, I liked this tuna. It was quite good enough to eat straight out of the can by itself. My rating: ★★★★☆

Binggrae Strawberry Flavored Milk (빙그게 딸기맛 우유)I've tried the banana milk and melon milk; today I've got the strawberry milk. Just like the other two flavors, this one is quite tasty as well. My rating: ★★★★☆

Nongshim Huruluk Noodles (농심 후루룩 국수)Today I've got another noodle soup. This one is called huruluk ( 후루룩), which means "slurping" and utilizes fine noodles similar to the rice noodles I had last time, rather than your typical thicker ramen noodles. The instructions for this one were a bit more challenging as they were a bit different than usual (and all in Hangul). First you boil the dried noodles in 500ml of water for 3 minutes, then drain and rinse. You then separately boil the contents of the packets of veggie flakes, hureikeu ( 후레이크) and powdered soup base, bunmalseupeu ( 분말스프) in 350ml of water for 1 minute. You pour the heated soup over the noodles in your bowl. This naturally results in all the veggies being on top. You then apply the liquid contents of the sauce packet, yangnyeomjang ( 양념장). I also topped it off with some fresh carrots and mushrooms. "Slurping" is indeed the operative word here; I found myself doing just that. The soup had a similar flavor to others I have tried, with a fair amount of garlic, but not overpoweringly so. My lips and tongue didn't go numb, which for me is plus. Overall, I quite liked it and would be happy to have it again. My rating: ★★★★☆

Nongshim Banana Kick Chips (농심 바나나킥)These very fluffy corn chips are sweet and flavored with bananas. They have the texture and consistency of cheese puffs (ie. mostly air), but are sweet and flavored with bananas. Definitely unusual, but pretty tasty. My rating: ★★★★☆

Lotte Vanilla Black Cookie Pepero (롯데 바닐라 블랙쿠키 빼빼로)Another twist on Pepero; instead of the usual chocolate covering, these have a vanilla coating with bits of chocolate cookies ( Lotte Sand Black wafers). What can I say, they're delicious! My rating: ★★★★★

Samyang Cheese Curry Ramen (삼양 치즈커리)Okay, I've had cheese ramen and I've had curry ramen; how about cheese curry ramen? Preparation is pretty simple; just dump the cheese/curry powder in the cup with the dried ramen, fill to the line with boiling water, and wait for a few minutes. There is a separate packet of croutons ( 크루통 후레이크) to add on top. This snack-sized cup of noodles is likely intended for kids, because this curry is really pretty mild. It's nothing like the fiery curry ramen I had before. The cheese is also quite bland - I honestly couldn't taste it at all with the curry flavor, but I suspect it helps temper the curry a bit. My rating: ★★★☆☆

Lotte Mallang Cow Chewy Candy - Chocolate Milk (롯데 말랑 카우 츄잉캔디 - 초코우유)Mallang ( 말랑) means "soft" in Korean, so they are literally "Soft Cow" candy. They come in several varieties, but today I've got the "Chocolate Milk" flavor. The candies are individually wrapped to keep them fresh. I can't say there was anything really special or surprising about these. They remind me a lot of Tootsie Rolls, though they are softer and much less chewy or sugary than those. I liked 'em. My rating: ★★★★☆

Assi Hot & Spicy Udon (아씨 육개장 우동)
Today, I've got another instant noodle variety, this time with Japanese-style udon noodles ( 우동). It's based on yukgaejang ( 육개장), a traditional Korean spicy beef soup. The bucket comes with separate packets for the moist udon, soup, veggie flakes, and chili pepper powder. Directions were fairly straight forward. Put the udon, soup powder, and veggie flakes in the bucket, fill to the line with hot water, and microwave on high for 3 minutes. The chili pepper powder is added afterward to taste - I went light on that. You can tell just by looking at it, that this is a higher quality product than most, with moist udon and lots of veggies. The soup had a good flavor, though it is quite spicy, even without much of the chili pepper powder. I certainly worked up a sweat eating it. My rating: ★★★★☆

Lotte Milkis Peach Soda (롯데 밀키스 복숭아)I had the apple flavor Milkis a while back, today I've got the peach. Like the apple flavor, the peach flavor is quite tasty, but it is definitely no diet soda - it's 130 Calories for a mere 250ml (8.45 oz)! My rating: ★★★★☆

Lotte Yohi Greek Yogurt Waffle (롯데 요하이 유산균 웨하스)Today I've got a Korean take on sugar wafers with Greek yogurt cream sandwiched between the wafers. This product has a number of Kpop star endorsers, including WANNA-ONE, featured on the packaging. These are quite similar to American sugar wafers. Though the filling is still sweet, it is noticeably not as sugary as your typical American counterparts. My rating: ★★★★☆

Lotte Double Dip Yogurt Pepero (롯데 더블딥 요구르트 빼빼로)Today I've got yet another variety of the ubiquitous Pepero. A Korean-exclusive, these are shorter than the regular Pepero sticks I've had so far. And instead of the usual chocolate, they are thickly coated in sweet, creamy yogurt. These are really pretty good too! My rating: ★★★★☆
